Building Assam’s Future:
Highlights from Green Assam Conclave 2026
The 2nd Green Assam Conclave 2026, organised by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) – Northeast Chapter, took place on 27th February at Hotel Arista, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and changemakers committed to redefining Assam’s urban future.
Mr. Saurav Pansari, Co-Chairman, IGBC Northeast Chapter, addressed the gathering and emphasised that going green is not about additional cost, but about smarter planning and long-term value creation.
He appreciated the Government of Assam’s announcement of additional FAR incentives for green buildings, noting that Assam becoming the 13th state in India to introduce such policies marks a progressive step toward structured and future-ready urban growth.
He called for stronger alignment between policy, developers, financial institutions, and end users – emphasizing that true impact lies in collective action.
Let us not see green buildings as compliance. Let us see them as competitiveness.
Let us not see sustainability as obligation. Let us see it as opportunity.
As Mahatma Gandhi said, “The future depends on what we do in the present.”
Let us choose to build that future – green, resilient, and progressive.
